MARSHAL CHUPA
CINEMATOGRAPHER | PHOTOGRAPHER
Marshal thrives on the intersection of grit and beauty. His work is defined by texture, atmosphere, and a deep respect for the people and places he captures. Whether it’s a welder in the early morning light, a logger deep in the woods, or an athlete pushing their limits, his imagery feels raw, immersive, and timeless. A photography mentor once told him that his work feels like he’s “romancing the grit,” a phrase that stuck because it reflects his instinct to layer elements like dirt, smoke, snow, rain, and fire—building depth and emotion into every frame.
Before stepping behind the camera full-time, Marshal spent years as a wildfire firefighter, flying in helicopters and trekking through remote landscapes with a chainsaw in hand. That past life built a relentless work ethic and a deep respect for the blue-collar world—an energy that defines his approach to filmmaking and photography today. His ability to blend raw storytelling with striking visuals has led to national campaigns for brands like 7-Eleven, Tourism Whistler, HydaPak, Destination Canada, Mustang Survival and others.
With a U.S. work visa and experience shooting across multiple countries, Marshal is at home on large-scale productions and stripped-down documentary-style shoots alike. His understanding of light, movement, and atmosphere allows him to craft visuals that feel both cinematic and authentic.
Beyond commercial work, Marshal is dedicated to building and inspiring the creative community through his podcast, SHOTLIST, where he connects with industry professionals to share industry insights, tools, and resources to help the next generation of filmmakers and photographers build sustainable careers.
His work is rooted in honesty, grit, and a deep appreciation for the untold stories of hardworking people..
